  • Companion for Drobo

DroboShare is the ideal companion to the Drobo for users who want to share data over a local area network. The combined solution automates network management, safeguards your data and lets you easily add capacity as needed. With DroboShare, users can now access the information stored on the award-winning Drobo from almost any client on the network, including Windows, Apple and Linux* computers. DroboShare can host up to two Drobos, allowing capacities of up to 8TB of storage today, scaling to 32TB as larger disk drives become available. *Linux support now in beta.

So slow2010-04-211 / 5
Works well. Easily accessible. Too slow to use other than for backups. Would be faster to hook up directly through usb.
Absolutely horrible.2010-04-111 / 5
So many problems, I don't know where to begin.

I am running Winows 7 64bit. I lose the connection to the drobo share all the time. I can't delete files from it. It's terribly unreliable. I don't trust it anymore so looking for another solution.

If you are looking for RAID NAS, you would be better off looking somewhere else.
Be very careful....2010-04-011 / 5
I purchased a Drobo and a DroboShare. The Drobo (Gen II) works very well indeed. But, when I attach the DroboShare, the DroboShare is incredibly slow, so slow that it cannot be used for any useful purpose. The DroboShare may work well with some computers and some networks, but it does not work well at all in my home network. We have 3 Macs running the latest Snow Leopard operating system, with 10 Gbps Cat 6 Ethernet cabling connected to a 1 Gbps Netgear switch, with an 802.11n wireless network. I disconnected everything except 1 Mac and the DroboShare, and I connected them wirelessly first, and then using the ethernet cable. There was no network congestion, and it was still painfully slow. This is well documented in several postings on the web, just do a search and you will find them. Unfortunately when I visited Drobo's Support page there was nothing there to help solve this. They simply refuse to even acknowledge it, and blame it on network congestion, but I disconnected everything. I am not going to waste any more time with this. I connected the Drobo to the USB port of the 802.11n base station (Airport Extreme), and now I have a shared Drobo in the network and a NAS. I really wanted the DroboShare to work, but it is a sad waste of time and money, with very poor technical support.
Great piece of hardware2010-02-125 / 5
This device works as advertised and is a breeze to set up.
And that's all I have to say about that. (Forrest Gump)
Must Have accessory for a Drobo2010-02-104 / 5
Drobo Share is a great addition to any Drobo in a SOHO environment. It quickly and affordably transforms your existing non-network aware array into a network device that is upgradeable to support additional functionality through DroboApps.
