Conflict of interest disclosure: Belkin provided a free copy of this item to me for the purposes of the review.
I wanted this hub for my iMac. I know you might say that the iMac has 3 usb ports on the back and if using the non-wireless keyboard you gain another few ports. So is that not enough ports ? I say no it is not.
When I turn my iMac to plug in USB devices it always seems something gets disconnected or something falls on the floor. It is a bit of a nuisance. I prefer to leave what devices will permanently connected via USB to the mac and use the Belkin Hub and keyboard ports for more transient devices.
I have a couple of iPods and an iPhone so I need at least three ports right there and external drives, SDHC readers etc and some of these devices require a powered hub which includes a power supply and the usb cable to connect to the computer.
The unit seems to be stable on the desk with devices plugged in and does not snake around on my desk. There are 5 ports on the back and two on top. The two ports are spaced vertically which allows devices like elgato Turbo HD and Sandisk card readers to be used without conflict. They make this unit in back or white. The white unit I reviewed blends nicely with the iMac.
Belkin included some basic cable management to hold cables when devices are not attached. This is a nice attention to detail as it prevents the cable from falling behind the desk.
This is a well designed hub and if you find yourself looking additional ports like me then this is a good place to start.
I think the Belkin list price is a bit high at $49.99 but you can find it at for much less which makes it a bargain. |

| Reviews said that this hub performed well. They were right. It recognizes all devices and they all perform at top speed. This is a quality product. I'm glad I brought it instead of cheaper units. |

| Easy to use right out of the box! I use this with my laptop, and it makes it a lot easier to unplug one device once instead of 5 different connections that bleed out from every hook up. Belkin has done it again! |

| It's just a USB Hub but it's well designed and the top ports are great for fast access. On top of that it looks good. I use this one with our Wii and the white color blends in nicely with all the other hardware. |
